  • for your weather chart you could use felt as you just need to cut it, then stick on velcro, might be easier and more durable than fimo

Wow monkeysallsayboo, thanks for all the links!! I have just had a look through and will defo be having a go at the monster hoodie!!!! My son will LOVE it!!! I like the treasure rocks too, not too hard to make either. I will have to think about the no sewing, glueing situation or maybe have a go at a bit of hand stitching. Great ideas, thank you.

Well I have been and bought a few bits to have a go at the reindeer and card to make the fish for the fishing game. I also may have, acidentally bought a laminator, just a £10 one from Wilko. I justified it by thinking that I could make place mats, story books etc for presenst for lots of people!!

    we had in it;
a shaped pillow each (toy story alien and a fairy one)
    new pjs
    a torch each
    choccy buttons
    a new drinks cup each
a cookie in a jar mix
a santa plate to leave the big guy one of the freshly baked cookies
some magic reindeer food (oats and edible glitter (they used the torch to scatter the food in the dark))
a magic key for santa to get in (which we hung on the door before bed and 'santa' hung it on the xmas tree when he'd finished)
and a xmas book to read before bed

i was going to put a dvd in to watch but every time i bought one we ended up watching it instead!

    Wow, some fantastic ideas here!
Fishing game (similar to this) http://www.littlebundles.co.uk/prodpage.asp?ProdID=731 - I will cut the fish shapes from sturdy card and paint them myself, attach a craft magnet to their mouths. I was thinking of making the pond from card board too and covering it with marbled paper. Then make a few rods from dowling rod and cord. I'll probably add more decorations too it as well, as I go.
Little tip about this one - how about just putting the magnets in the rod and then using a metal rivet or something on each fish? Bit cheaper than using magnets for all and safer as it reduces the risk of a little one swallowing magnets. I made something similar last year and used craft foam to make the fish, this also worked quite well as it is so light and can be cut easily.

The other year someone did a felt book using felt letters to spell out Christmas and she cut out something for each one on each page (C -candle)
I was always going to do that and never got round to it.

Sorry to snip Mary - the felt book sounds fantastic! Shame there is little hope of finding it in the threads but gives me something to think about.

You are always full of wonderful ideas! Christmas at your house must be lovely :)

Last year I downloaded a few free personalised Christmas stories and turned them into books from http://www.northpole.com/Den/PersonalizedStories/
I printed it out in colour and cut out clear plastic covers from cheap plastic folders to make it more sturdy, punched holes and kept together with red ribbon. Took about 5 minutes to assemble.
My son was thrilled with them far more than a lot of his expensive presents (actually so was I as I am not very crafty.)

Thanks so much for this link its lovely and I'll be using it this year :) x
  • Purplegirl - I just found these that might be handy for your personalised story book
