I refuse to buy logo polo shirts for school.
Our school shirts are £10 each. They have only 7 small letters on them naming the school. ASDA do great and superior polo shirts, plain white for £1 each.
So the school can go whistle

Try rubbing the offending patch with some soap or vanish bar, or soaking it in some washing up liquid or stardrops before washing it at a low temperature.

I do wonder about the logic of the people who choose the uniform items for the schools. My DD's PE top was yellow & the colour ran like anything:mad:
To add insult to injury, it managed to get washed with a biro wrapped up in it once. It was never the same after that :o

Wow, N9eav & PP! What cheap shirts:rolleyes:
The other day I had a phone call from my sister, would I go over to the school (which is not far from where I live) and pick up a new tie & polo shirt for my niece, as she had hers stolen last term. Sis refused to buy new ones straight away cos there is no locker or storage provided for them & was cross they'd been stolen.
So I did. The tie was £3, but the ordinary yellow polo shirt - ok, had the school badge on, was £17:eek: If she's needed the next size, it would be £18. Ok, she is a big girl (probably size 18 & she's only 12) but even so - nearly £20 for a polo shirt!
  • Biological washing powders are meant to be used at 40oC not higher.

I only ever wash at 40 and don't really have any problems with stains.
Washing at 40 also saves your energy costs too.

I agree. The only things I wash at 60deg are towels(occasionaly). I find stains come out fine with either a pre-soak in a lukewarm solution of biological powder, or a bit of neat bio liquid applied before the machine wash, or a squirt of Vanish spray.
  • would stains come out if you line dry the tops? works on my babies nappies which are often still stained when they come out of the washer but are sparkly white after being in the sunshine.....

btw i wash everything at 40 max these days - didn't notice the nappies looking any dirtier when i dropped the temp
:rotfl:five children? I must be mad........ :rotfl:
    aug grocery spend - £166.45
  • Hi
I never wash my childrens clothes at 60 - although I probably should with white socks! Srunge some washing liquid on, or Vanish spray or work in some Borax with your fingers. I do soak, but I would be wary of soaking if the logo leaks.

That's very unfair. Could you perhaps go to one of those embroidery T-shirt places (can't think of the proper name, hope you know what I mean) with the shirt, get them to make up some spare logos and just stitch them onto a plain shirt? It might be expensive to get them made initially, but if you could get a bunch of like-minded mothers together maybe you could buy them in bulk? Or even find out who does the one for the school? I'm all in favour of school uniforms, but I do think crested clothing is a rip-off.
