Free credit reports

I hope I am posting this in the right forum.

In Martin's weekly email it mentions that all three credit reference agencies are now offering online credit reports for £2. Martin mentions that these are free to people in financial hardship. How do you go about proving that you are in financial hardship to get a free credit report?

There are the free online trials that last 30 days, that you must cancel or get charged for. These are in the guide.

I am not aware of the credit reports been free for those in hardship, just had another read of the guide and it is not mentioned - http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/loans/credit-rating-credit-score#files

Otherwise it is the £2 reports.

DarkConvict - This is an extract from Martin's weekly email:

'You have a statutory right to check your file for £2, but in the past it was only by post; now after a push from the last govt all agencies offer it online too (free if you're in financial hardship).'

Your not the only person to ask so it seems, - https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/comment/34719981#Comment_34719981

it maybe a mistake in the email, i am not sure but no one seems to have an answer. Have you contacted the credit reference agencies by telephone to ask about. Remembering to use http://saynoto0870.com/ to keep call costs down
