Insurance

Hi all, I've been starting to look around for wedding insurance before we start booking anything and paying out deposits.

My youngest sister is going to be flowergirl/junior bridesmaid - however, she has severe cerebal palsy and epilepsy (and other less severe conditions) and also has a lowered immune system so catches a lot of chest infections which result in her being admitted to hospital (she's been in about 4 times this year already).

Are there any companies out there that will give me cover, should the worst happen and she takes ill when we are getting married? Most I've looked at say they will provide cover but won't pay out for existing medical conditions, which isn't much use in my situation. My parents can get travel insurance for when they take my sister abroad, so why can't I find wedding insurance?!

Thanks in advance :)

I doubt anyone will cover you if a bridesmaid/flowergirl isnt able to make it regardless of the state of their health. Harsh as it sounds, they wouldnt be considered an essential member of the bridal party, ie. the wedding can still go ahead without a bridesmaid/flowergirl.

Why are you needing insurance for this? Is your wedding abroad?

Most insurers do cover the whole bridal party, and I've seen one (confetti i think) that will provide cover in case a close relative takes ill and you have to cancel/postpone.

No, my wedding will be taking place in Scotland. I'm looking into this as due to my sisters health conditions, she can become seriously ill in a couple of hours, and if this were to happen when we are getting married, there is no way I could go through with things until she was better.
