Comfortable Formal Mens Shoes

Options
I've just started a new job :T and I am walking 20 mins to and from the station (roads and pavements).

My current shoes were only bought to be worn twice a year (cheap and cheerful :(). But now I need something for daily heavy use can someone suggest some comfortable mens range of smart black shoes please.

First stop this weekend was going to be Jones.

  • will give you one very strong recommendation .. i was very pleasantly suprised when trying a pair of "memory foam insoles " .. all of £1 from Poundland and Poundstretcher (and i'm sure plenty others) .

They made an amazing differrence to the comfort of all shoes.

    Certainly worth a try . Only risk is a £1 !!

I would say Hush Puppies, my husband got his from Windsors, about £40 pair, black or brown and he says very comfortable, in fact he never takes the off, i have to remind him when we go out that he has his working shoes on.

Marks & Spencer have a good range of smart looking shoes, although I can't comment on how comfy they are (I'm a girl and unfortunately there isn't a man in my life at the moment, apart from Eric the cat and he doesn't wear shoes, certainly not Hush Puppies as he can't abide dogs )

Have a look at their website to see if they are your style, save yourself a wasted journey if you don't like.

  • Take a look at Rockport shoes. They do a comfortable range that feel like trainers, but look like "proper" shoes.

I couldn't find anyone in the high street with Rockport smart shoes in stock
I wasn't keen on the Clarks range tbh.
I also couldn't find Hush Puppies.

I did get some AirFlex Loafers from M&S for £39.50
I also bought some £1 memory foam insoles from sports direct (thanks for that)
I also bought some Asics trainers from sports direct.

So the plan is to put the memory foam in the cheaper existing shoes and leave them at the office by my desk.
Wear my Asics to work for the cycle ride, train and walk to and from work (then change when i get there)
Keep the new AirFlex for Weddings & Funerals and for when i need black shoes and the other one are at the office.

Only took 2 coffees in Costas to work that all out. Thanks for the advice, hopefully the M&S sale is a good one this week (BTW my wife works there so i saved 20% off the AirFlex shoes, which made it an easier choice.)

It was THESE ONES @ M&S if you were interested.
