making blackcurrant jam

Just a quick question, I have 3lbs of blackcurrants to jam and there seems to be quite a difference between types of recipe. Some call for the addition of water and others don't although they use a similar ratio of fruit to sugar.

Which recipes do you all use? I don't want it to end up to sweet as I love the tang of blackcurrants

Hi all,
I have lots of blackcurrants that need picking and freezing or using.
I thought I may try jam making - never tried this before!
I only have one jar. Can anyone tell me how to do this r how much sugar i will need?

EDIT: just re-read your post & saw you only have one jar so it may be best to pick the blackcurrants & freeze them & make the jam when you have a few more jars (I got 4 jars from that recipe)

will pick up some more sugar and give this a go tonight.
great for me as she mentions using frozen blackcurrants. i can pop any unused in the freezer!
