what moneysaving thing have you done today?

I always find this thread inspiring so here goes:

Today I:
Got up earlier than I wanted to and made my lunch
Paid my expenses from work (they come in cash) straight into the bank - this doesn't sound like much but normally the cash hangs around in my wallet and disappears over the course of the week....
Used ReadItSwapIt to find the book I wanted.

Come on guys...put me to shame! :p

Went to my mums and she bought me some sausage rolls for my lunch :)

Picked up my washing from my mums that shes washes and drys for me for free!

Took mum out in my car so she could return an item that she didnt want and she bought a scratch card and won £21, gave me £5 hehe

Had evening meal at mums too :)

Returned home with a flask of milk and tea bags so didnt have to buy my own.

You know my mum really does spoil me, shes one in a million...and im 37 :rotfl:

(Dad tried to give me £20 but I turned him down as I think parents do enough for me as above)

(I know the above sounds bad but we help each other out with money/items when we both need it, this week has just been my turn i think)

The road to Hell is paved with good intentions...
  • Made my own lunch at work.

Not bought a bargain telly at Aldi (but only cos they sold out!)

Paid out 7.5k to get a finanacial settlement with estranged husband (cheap in the long run!)

Bagged a free take away from Mum (but had to drive 20 miles each way to do so.)

    Hmm saved or not?
The best things in life are NOT free - but they sure are cheaper with MSE!:j

*I walked to work and saved a £1.50 bus fayre.
*I knocked 20 pence off my sons lunch money so I will save £1.00 a week.
(He now gets £2.80 a day which is ample)
*I took a prepared lunch to work and saved 70pence.
*I had 1/4 bottle of facial cleanser left and watered it down by 100%. So now I have half of a bottle - that will last me an extra 2 weeks and save me approximately £1.00.
*I bought 5 vhs videos from a charity shop for 20 pence each (that will save me having to visit the video shop for a while - films bought = Matrix Reloaded, Dirty Dancing, Gothika, Four Weddings and a Funeral & Pride & Prejudice (with Colin Firth Phroawrrrrrr)

So today I have saved about £8.40

    Roll :rotfl: on tomorrow
  • I stayed indoors and didn't spend anything all day.

  • Changed my mobile phone contract provider which will save me a tenner each month.
  • I got a season ticket loan for my travel from my company which is interest free. I will now save about £140 a year on what I would have paid on travel before - really chuffed!
