Affiliate Marketing

Options
Hi,

I've heard about becoming an affiliate for ebay where you can earn money from driving potential buyers through to the site.

However, I do not own a website and was wondering if it were still possible to earn some extra income from doing this.

I think it is possible to use a forum in order to place links through to the site or seller's page.

I just want to know how difficult it is and where I can get the links from. I sell reguarly on ebay and would like to be able to up my income a little if I can.

I guess the first step is to sign up as an affiliate.

Any advice most welcome.

you really need a blog or web site to drive traffic as an affiliate , normally a niche or new product ( like new iphone4 ) and use the blog to drive traffic to ebay (or other aff sites)

most forums like this will ban you for posting affilite links

    Any advice most welcome.

Don't bother, I joined last September. Three days after my links went live I had 4 people click on them. Only one person bought some thing, but they bought 7 items and I earned £1.7x.

So I made another 5 web sites, just to advertise ebay auctions, but 6 months later my stats on ebay showed over 750 "unique visitors" had used my links, but not one of them had went on to buy anything.

That was in March, and I decided to replace the sites with something else. At the time I didn't know what, so didn't take the sites down until well into June. By then I had sent them over 900 visitors and not one had bought anything, apart from that first person.

I remember that not long after I started they changed the system of paying affiliates. Can't remember exactly, but it was something like they stopped paying you for sales, and started paying you for the quality of the traffic you send to them. Worked out by some formula based on the number of visitors you send, how much they spend and how many items they buy.

Nobody actually knows how they work it out, or at least they didn't at the time, but as ebay said, none of my visitors ever bought anything, the quality of my traffic was 0 and therefore I never got any money.

I did get the £1.7x though. They did have a minimum amount you had to earn before they paid you, £10 or £25, or something like that. But towards the end of last year they said that, as an incentive to affiliates, they were going to disregard the minimum and pay all affiliates what they had earned . So I got my £1.7x
  • Hi,

Thanks for the advice. I have setup my own Blog and have registered as a Google AdSense Associate and Amazon Associate.

Does anyone have experience of monetising their Blogs this way?

I would like to know how I could maximize the traffic to my Blog.

Affiliate marketing and interent marketing IS a great way to earn extra revenue. Just be very careful not to pay for any information or training because there are so many companies/scammers out there claiming to be affiliate gurus and there training is not worth cr*p. best of luck with it anyway
