I changed my phone number to avoid getting calls from my creditors but one in particular insisted on a number of some sort. so, i gave them my mobile number. I spoke to them on the 31st of august and offered them a payment of £100 a month for now while we get back on our feet a bit more. They said as the debt is so large (25k unsecured). It's too small an offer. I've dug out my paperwork from cccs and have been in touch with them. They cannot get me an appointment with my counsillor until the middle of october  I explained what was happening and they gave me the direct number for the lady that did our financial statement. I have rung and left a message on her voice mail but as of yet have not heard back.
Creditor rang the mobile today and this guy is a realy !!!!ehawk  I explained i was waiting for a phonecall to update my financial statement and as soon as i had it i would send it to him. Nooooo That was just not good enough. He was very menacing and quite intimidating until i told him it was the cccs i was waiting for. In the end i had to give him the name of my counsellor and my reference number. He said he will ring CCCS and "hurry them along" He said he can get them to fax my statement over.
I haven't even had chance to speak to the lady yet. The only statement he will get is incorrect. It's from when we were on benefits. But, he wouldn't let me explain this. Do i just leave him to it or leave another message for the counsellor explaining what has happened?
I was feeling really positive today. I have done a lot today to get my debts sorted and this has just completely taken the wind out of my sails. I have sorted out my council tax and that's now on a standing order. I have no rent arrears left, i make my final payment to my sister tonight, i have paid off my outstanding catalogue, sorted out my tv licence to a direct debit, and made a payment on my county court judgement. It's stuff i've been putting off for months and it took alot for me to sort it all out. Now i just feel fed up again. Do you have to have specialist training to be a debt collector? Is there a school for wannabe @rseholes? And can someone please tell me why the hell do i bother?
*phew!* thankyou

I've not had experience with this myself, but lots of other posters here recommend that you explain that you will only deal with people in writing. Not only does this buy you a little extra time, it allows you to deal with them without needing to feel intimidated.
Good luck.Am not witty enough to put something cool and informative here:o0 -
Whew you are doing well with your debt repayments. Congratulations.
Is your mobile a contract one? If it is PAYG I would just put a different sim card in. Ignore the little debt collecting creep, they are all on commision and talk a load of rubbish trying to frighten you. You obviously have things in hand, do not allow yourself to be bullied.0 -
If it is PAYG you are on you can pm me and I will send you a new sim card out if you like as I have spares for most networks. As has been said, then you can just deal with your debts in writing. Try not to worry about it,they just try to scare you into agreeing paying more money.0

If they are offensive/intimidating, ask them to hold on a minute while you attach the tape-recorder."Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)
