HI
I've been on a dmp with payplan since 2005. I've just had a statement from BPF with a much higher figure than payplan have got. So I phoned to find out why - i've had 9 lots of £22.50 added to the account for late payment charges, from 2005-2008.
Payplan make all my payments, i have no say on what date the payments go out, and when the dmp was set up, all the creditors agreed the terms with payplan.
I want to go about trying to claim back these charges, and make a complaint to BPF too.
They are sending me a full statement from 2005 to now, so will have details of all charges added to the account. Can someone point me in the right direction.
Thank you

Hi
You can ask for these to be refunded, or not charged in future but they are not under any obligation to do so. DMPs are not legally binding so a creditor can start charging interest again or add charges at any point. Personally I would not go down the route of complaining to barclays but would go for the 'ask nicely' approach.
Some other people have recently said Payplan have made payments later than agreed or had similar issues to yourself. I would suggest you speak to Payplan and find out what date they are making payment to your creditors compared to what date you are paying Payplan. If you decide to complain to anyone I would make it Payplan.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
I would complain to Payplan and make sure the dates have been sorted now so you aren't getting any extra charges added.
Regarding claiming the charges back there are template letters and spreadsheets for working out interest which you just need to fill in with the full list of charges.
I have recently claimed back from Barclaycard and they have offered me 90% of my charges with statutory interest within 2 weeks. I did ask for contractual though and since I'm not in a rush am currently chasing that up with them (they were quick enough to charge me at that rate, now I want it back

HI
Thanks guys. Have complained to payplan, and they basically just said they pay on a certain date and sometimes the creditor accepts this, and sometimes they don't. So not sure where to go to from there. Will wait for my statements to come and send off the first template letter. Can only try hey!DFD February 2012

Thanks Tixy, made for good reading.
I think we are too far down the line now to change over, we are due to finish next year feb (even though in reality it won't be finished due to added interest and charges on quite a few accounts, but hopefully some of the smaller debts will be finished and the money left over can go towards the bigger ones. Am going to write a letter to their customer relations dept, if i hear nothing, then will go down the route of claiming back the charges. It's only £250, but in my situation, it's a lot of money.DFD February 2012
