Debt Collection Agencies

I signed up for a book club and they never sent me any of my books bar the first 6 that were free if you bought 6 more. I emailed them for months, wrote and called them regarding this and regarding that I wanted to cancel my contract - which they did. BUT then they sent me a bill for £100 for the first 6 books. I called, emailed and wrote explaining that under the contract and Term of Sales act (or one of those) that they never sent me my further books for me to commit to.

The other month I got a bill from a debt collection agency saying I owed them £100 and that if I didn't respond a baliff would visit my home. This was sent to my old address so only got it yesterday. Tried calling the debt agency and no response and have sent a letter to them explaining the situation and still no response. It's been 5 weeks now and I'm worried that I'll be getting a CCJ for not paying this bill, even though it aint mine and I've tried every means possible to get in contact with both parties.

What more can I do?!?!

Do NOT worry. They can not send a Bailiff without a CCJ.
If a summons was issued to you at your previous address, and was not forwarded to you (would seem a bit strange as DCA letter was forwarded) then you may ask DCA for details of any CCJ issued against you - in fact it should be quoted on the letter.
I think that they are simply trying it on - If they are, then they are breaking OFT guidelines.
Should a Debt Collector visit our house, you are under NO OBLIGATION to let him/her in, unless they have a warrant of entry.
Keep all correspondence with DCA in writing and insist that they do same.
Should this ever come to court, you should have a strong defence, especially if you have copies of all original correspondence and emails.

I have all emails and letters on my computer.

Who is DCA?!? I guess, it's a case of waiting to see what happens next!

Sorry DCA = Debt Collection Agency, ie the people who sent you the letter.

Post their Name, and the name of the Book Club and see if anyone else is having similar experience.

    Good luck.
