Jessop's customer service

I am feeling very angry with Jessops.

Just over two years ago I purchased a camera from Jessops. Luckily I had a two year warranty on the camera and before this ended I had to send the camera back to them as the lens wobbled and meant the camera wouldn't work properly. 2 months later the camera return fixed however, whilst fixing it they had managed to get dirt on the mirror. So back went the camera, another few months and the camera returned fixed. A couple of months down the line and my charger no longer works (I don't know if it is the battery or the charger).

I went to the shop and they tried to test it but couldn't be sure if it was the charger as they couldn't find their shop charger to be able to test the battery. They suggested phoning customer service.

I phoned customer service and they said all they could do was to test the charger and to take it to the shop to get sent back. The shop however, have told me that they charge £25 'handling fee' for the privilege of me having the charger tested. Even though if it is broken I will have to buy a new one for £40.

Firstly; surely chargers should last for longer than two years, secondly; why, if customer service have asked me to send the charger back do I have to pay £25 for the privilege?

I feel like the service with Jessops has been terrible.

Can you get a replacement charger from 7dayshop or similar for less than £40?

If you're now over the two years then that's it, they aren't liable!

Sure you can try and push it if you want (you'd need to pay for an independent inspection for a start) but for the sake of £25/£40 I highly doubt it's worth it.

Well depends on the quality of design and manufacture surely?

And you have to pay since it's out of warranty.
