I am at a loss how to deal with the CSA at the moment and would really appreciate some advice. Will try to be brief! Applied twice some years ago and application finally accepted in 2007 when I complained. A default payment of £30 was set when ex wouldn't provide info, about a year later received a letter stating he wouldn't have to pay a penny. When I spoke to a supervisor, was told he'd given his job up and had every right to. My son is now 14, split with ex when he was 6 months old and have never got a penny. No-one at CSA advised me about claiming arrears. The last I heard from them was 2008 and I assumed the case was closed but was informed recently it was still open! What have they been doing about my case in the last 2 years, nothing I'm sure. My questions are: Can I still claim the arrears I'm owed from when ex was working? Would it be better to ask for the case to be closed and re-open a new one so they have to look at my case again? Went to CAB and was told to ring CSA after I'd spent bus fare to get there. They were useless. I don't want to be fobbed off, I want to know my rights before I get back in touch with them! Thanks

think if your ex is out of work they will take £5 from his job seeker's allowance, have you got a copy of all your paperwork, this will tell you if he has arrears, then if he goes back into employment he will start paying them back along with regular maintenance
