I saw the toys for kids thread (fill a shoebox) and locally it seems we're doing for the hungry. We're asked to provide a large list of things, mainly:
1 Tesco Value Pineapple Pieces Syrup 540g 0.39
1 Tesco Value Fruit Cocktail In Syrup 410g 0.22
1 Tesco Value Sliced Peaches In Syrup 410g 0.14
2 Tesco Value Plum Tomatoes 400g 0.26
1 Tesco Value All Butter Shortfingers 125g 0.39
1 Tesco Value Rich Tea 300g 0.21
1 Tesco Value Ginger Nuts 300g 0.24
2 Tesco Value Spaghetti 500g 0.32
1 Tesco Value Long Grain Rice 1kg 0.49
2 Tesco Value Plain Flour 1.5kg 0.62
1 Miscellaneous Granulated Sugar1kg Packet 0.72
Total guide price
4.00
Obviously tescos isn't the only place to buy these things, but for such staples does anywhere know a single place that is cheaper?

I really hope you don't mind me saying but perhaps the fruit in the tins would be better off in natural juice. I appreciate that you are donating it though x

I would guess that both Tesco's Value and Asda's Smart Price (is it?) would both be about the same price. Sainsbury's basics might be more expensive.0

Why don't they do value tinned fruit in juice though ?0

A shoebox you say.........I say wot no shoes
do they not wear shoes in Hungary?
I came into this world with nothing and I'm gonna leave with nothing.0 -
If you are giving food to the homless/starving, the juice in tin issue is not an issue, the sugar in the syrup is another source of energy. I'd go for the syrup one every time in this case.0
