What is green manure and how do you grow it? I have a veggie bed which is partically covered in weeds at the moment - do they qualify as green manure?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Hi, Unfortunatly weeds are weeds, or plants in the wrong place as they are oftern known.
Some weeds are a good sign of good soil such as stinging nettles, and daft as it might sound its worth leaving a patch of these if you can afford the space. Good creatures live in these that eat nasties.
If you can clear the weeds, and best of luck, I'm an allotment holder, so I know the feeling. In a few weeks time, is when to sow green manure. You can buy it as a packet of seeds from the garden centre, about £2.50 abit more than veggie seeds but you get more as well.
Instructions are on the pack, but basically you sow now, green plants grow then come the spring you dig this in, which provides nutrients.0 -
