Humph!!
My DMP is starting on 1st October
have missed ONE payment with egg (AUG) and sent them 40% of the minimum payment for Sept as a token two weeks early and they have issued a default notice.
I have kept them informed by letter and email of my situation and they have gone ahead and issued,,,wrote back to them today to tell them again that i am about to start a DMP etc etc,,,,
am not sure if i should be worried or not, my counsellor has gone quiet at CCCS ( poor thing probably swamped or taking a well earned few days off!) so any advice is welcome
i thought egg were teh good guys?

this is what they told me, in short:
1) Default Notice issued when in arrears
2) 30 Days given to rectify 1) by paying arrears off and DN will be removed
3) After 30 days, if you don't pay Terminiation Letter issued (closes Credit and turns account into Repayment only).
4) After another 30 Days passed to Debit Recovery Agency if no contact or DMP is entered.
I am waiting for the default notice myself from them...
I think these companies are in deep dodo cos so many people are taking this stance now.BSC Member 44 - not bankrupt yet, but getting there...0 -
As far as I know they can issue a default notice at any time after a default in payment, but I think usually companies leave it for at least 2 payments. I don't know egg's policy, they may always send a d.f. after one missed payment.
If you can pay the amount they ask for in the default notice before the specified date they won't (or shouldn't) issue a formal demand. The formal demand is the scary bit because it is that that terminates your loan agreement and makes the full amount become due.0 -
Thanks that post is really useful,, looks like i still have a bit of time for the DMP to kick in

Did they not send you the "How can we help you get back on your feet" leaflet? It was the first thing I got from them and gives a pretty detailed list of what will happen and what to do.BSC Member 44 - not bankrupt yet, but getting there...0

I wouldn't worry too much. From personal experience, pretty soon after starting on a DMP many creditors issue default notices. Egg just seem to have jumped in earlier than most.0

Egg are a dozy bunch! When I was arranging my DMP through the CCCS they were kept informed at all times but continually sent letters asking me to contact them.
Then they started emailing daily until I responded by sending them about 100 emails and secure messages explaining the situation and giving them my CCCS reference. This finally provoked a response where they acknowledged my situation and advised they would issue a default notice accordingly.
They seem to have accepted the DMP as I haven't hear a peep out of them for months now! I had to send my emails in small batches as I didn't want to trigger my ISP's spam filters. Childishly, it gave me much amusement to think of their customer service people having to see the same email turn up time and time again!0 -
Thanks all - loving the 100 email scam,,, might just well do that!!0
