oat and fruit bars - recepie ideas please

In my kitchen cupboards I have plenty of oats (porridge oats), and mixed dried fruits (rasins, pineapple, papaya, dates, sultanas, and there may be others mixed in together)
What I'd like to do is make healthy snack/breakfast bars, or something similar...but I don't know where to start
What can I use that's low in fat and calories to hold them all together? And should I toast the oats first? Will the fructose in the dried fruit, when heated, be sticky enough to hold it altogether if I pressed everything down in a baking tray?
I am trying to loose a little weight and eat more healthily so I'd rather not use Golden Syrup or sugar if possible - but I really can't think of anything else to bind the ingredients together
Any recepie ideas would be greatfully appreciated

Just to let you know that I have made a variation of this recepie (I didn't add egg whites or Wheetabix - as I didn't have either), but in stead of the wheetabitx I used crushed up bran flakes. And I used a variety of mixed fruits, and golden syrup (instead of honey) which I had in the cupboards.
And they turned out deliscious.
I'd still like a healthier alternative to sugar, golden syrup or honey - if anyone has had sucess using anything else.
Thanks for the recepie0 -
I made some cereal bars a few weeks ago and used ripe bananas as the main sticking-together agent. There's no recipe, I'm afraid, as it was one of my 'throw things in a bowl and see what happens' moments - as far as I remember, I just mashed a couple of bananas and mixed them in with muesli, raisins and a splash of warm maple syrup (which I added just for flavour, so you could probably leave that out), put the lot in a tine and baked until golden.
They came out with quite a cakey texture which I wasn't too sure about to start with, but grew on me with every bite.
Is that any help?Back after a very long break!0 -
When these buscuits are done - I will try them with the bananas. Thanks0
