Hi, I have suffered from bipolar disorder and borderline personality disorder for about 10 years now, (I'm 23) and have struggled to hold a job too long. I went to university, but with all the GP visits, psychotherapy, psychiatrists, and other specialists, I didn't have time to do both so I had to leave uni.
My job used to make me sick, and working in a pub was good as they were flexible with their hours so I could still kepp up medical appt's, but one of my 'coping strategies' was to get horribly drunk. So I had to leave.
Then my b/f left me for another girl, and we've been living together for 3 years, but this year we moved into a house in his name, so I have no rights.
I was advised to go on incapacity benefit. I applied, it took 2 months to be approved (with no income) only to tell me that I haven't paid enough national insurance so I can't have any money.
I decided that no matter how ill I was I had to get a job. So I now have a new job(hopefully) (starting Tuesday evening) in a care home. Now this could be a great new start for me. But I'm so so desperate I won't even be able to afford the bus fare and it's too far to walk. You get free meals there which is a big big bonus for me, as atm I'm living off cup a soups.
At the min, my Gran is helping me out as much as she can by depositing £200 in my a/c on the 5th of the month, but not sure if she'll do it next month as I now have a job. I'm 2 months behind on my CC bill.
INCOMINGS : £200
OUTGOINGS : RENT £200
CC £50 (with £140 arrears)
INTERNET £30 reconnection , £10
OTHER AMMENITIES £80
see I'm already over not including food, cat food, travel, essentials.
There is no-one I can lend any money from, and it has been a long long time since I worked a job which paid monthly, when you start work, is it 2 months till you get paid, like it is if you are paid weekly. ?

Hi
You should get paid at the end of this month if they are in time for pay roll cut off. When i started my job i started in the middle of the month, i asked my boss if i could get paid and they did a speical payment into my account.
Just ask your new employeers on Tuesday and i'm sure they will sort you out.0 -
Thanks, I was getting really really worried about that, if they can do that, then thats a massive weight off my mind! Do you not have to work in arrears when paid monthly?
I didn't think to ask ANYTHING about wages at my interview as I was so sure I wouldn't get the job.0 -

No not normally.
Ring them up, they will not mind.
Also, ring the CC company. They will not shout at you and it will put your mind at rest. Just say you have been ill, you have a job starting soon. You will pay them £1 a month and you will ring them on x date to arrange higher payments. Just be honest and DO NOT LIE. Good Luck, you will sort your self out.0 -
thanks for that. I rang them up and I should get paid for 2 shifts at the end of the month which is something, but I really really daren't ring my CC up, I'm terrified of these things.0
