Letter from Robinson Way Re 1993 Debt

I received a letter from RW recently, "for the purpose of validation, we believe you used to live at the address noted above (not my address nor at any I have ever lived at BTW) I rang them up and when asked I told them I had lived at my address since 1983 and the electoral register will confirm this, they think I owe Lombard Bank £3724 for a loan taken out in 1993, I asked them if they had a copy of the Consumer Credit Application, they keep sending me letters now, latest one saying that further to my request for a copy statement/agreement they have contacted the original creditor and they have advised that all relevant information has previously been sent to me (never had anything in the post) and the balance outstanding is correct. Can I just ignore this until they get tired of writing to me as I know it wasn`t me and the statute of limitations is 6 years (in this case 17 years ago) or do I need to do anything as they`re trying it on ?
Thanks Mike

They're trying it on for definate, but then you know a little about this already so not sure what you're asking.
If you mean to ask "is there anything I can do to make them go away" the answer is yes. You can send them this if you're in England or this if you're in Scotland.I refuse to be afraid of the big bad wolf, spiders, or debt collection agencies; one of them's not real and the other two are powerless without my fear.
(Ok, one of them is powerless, spiders can be nasty.)
As of the last count I have cleared [STRIKE]23.16%[/STRIKE] 22.49% of my debt.

This is why you should never speak to a DCA on the phone.
This is plainly not your debt but because you have made that mistake, they have now latched on to you. QAnd by asking for the CCA, they now assume that you are the debt owner.
Write to them and advise them it is not your debt that you never lived at that address and if you hear any further, you will report them to the OFT.If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
I agree with RAS, this is not your debt, so write and tell them. Do not get into further discussion.0
