5-6K of debt and how to fund a training course..

Hey Guys,

a bit about my situation..I was self-employed as a freelance PA for the past year and a bit and didn't save up for my tax bill, I then couldn't find anymore work and got stuck with a 3K tax bill along with a maxed out credit card and overdraft from HSBC and few other bits and bobs of debt.

I'm now working at a cafe on minimum wage and not even making ends meet :( I'm trying to find other work but in the meantime I need to think ahead about what to do with this debt as I can't afford to make any payments.

They've already sent my tax bill to a recovery office although I havn't received anything from them yet about it.

What I really want to do is get on a training course to become an outdoors instructor with a career development loan which I don't know if I'll be able to get with my financial standings.

So my 2 questions are:

1) Any ideas on how to deal with this debt? IVA's?, token offers? Debt relief aid?

2) what's my best option for funding this training course with my financial history?

Thanks!

Any ideas would be much appreciated! :)

So you are in debt which you cannot pay, but you wish to take out more debt? Bonkers.

Deal with your debt, then look at retraining when you can afford to.

I doubt very much that you will get a career development loan at the moment.

Have you sought advice from one of the debt charities about which options might be suitable for you? https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/2077631
Your tax bill needs to be addressed most urgently. Have you spoken to the tax office to try to set up a repayment plan of some sort?
