Party Venue

My hubby and I both turn 30 next year and thought it would be nice to have a joint party. I thought it would be nice and simple but nooo!!! lol Our local hallwas my first port of call but it seems that I would have to negotiate the times regarding locking of the car park gates and also reading their hire terms it seems you have to return the key straight after use (was hoping I could do the clean up the next morning!) Plus thinking about the cost of alcohol etc I am not sure it is managable!
Next stop was the local bowling place which has a function room but hubby wasnt too keen and now it seems they have been taken over anyway and their website doesnt mention the room being available now.
The local hotel hires out rooms but uless you have at least 60 guests (was hoping to have a smaller party than that!) the room alone is £250 plus yu have to have their food at the cheapest is nearly £8 per head!

Where is the best sort of venue for this sort of thing? Any experiences etc of types of venue? disco costs etc?

any help appreciated - am starting to lose interest!! lol

    Hi

Have you tried your local scout huts. Our local one is only £30 to hire and they have a full kitchen you can use. If they haven't got anything on the next day I'm sure they would be happy for you to tidy up then, the only problem may be how late you want it to go on till as they tend to be in residential areas.

The other option would be your local conservative/labour/lib dem club etc I think you have to be a member but it is only a nominal amount. The ones we used for our son's christening was happy for us to do our own food and they supplied the bar which was great as we then didn't have the alcohol costs.

I've used function rooms at pubs a few times. They often don't charge anything at all because they will make money from your guests at the bar.
