Affording Bankruptcy?

Hi
Ive been looking into bankruptcy for some time now, but have always been avoiding it, until recently, we were getting by paying debts off, but now older debts are catching up with us and demanding money and we just dont have anything spare to offer them.
Im now considering going bankrupt again, im beginning to think its our only way forward.
Now here is my question, how can we raise the fees?
We have been really stupid over the last year and got Provident loans, I wont make excuses for getting them but they were our last resort, which im sure is going to go against us more, which is one of the reasons ive been putting off going bankrupt.
Thanks.

to pay for our br, anything that was a loan, cc, or mortgage we stopped paying and done it that way, the only things we continued to pay for whilst saving for br was food, petrol, car and contents insurance, childminder, tv licence, council tax and telephone0

"Possible" help with bankruptcy costs / fees and it is possible some refuse some grant funds its worth a shot..
There are a number of charities that may help with bankruptcy costs and fees depending on eligibility (examples below).- Severn Trent Trust Fund and other water trusts
- EDF Energy Trust
- Royal British Legion
- Some Trade Unions
- Turn2Us enables you to search for charities
- SAFFA (ex forces)

How old are these older debts? Are they actually statute barred?
Have you requested the CCAs and checked the default letters? If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -

I agree with above as that is exactly what I done... whatever money was being spent paying any bill off each month. Cease paying these and put that money towards the cost of paying your bankruptcy.0 -

The debts are from before 2006 (probably 2004/2005), as that is when we got the IVA.
Sorry for being a bit dumb but how do I go about requesting CCAs? The older debts are being handled by Fairfax (Eversheds).0 -

This is what I thought about doing but its hard when the Provident ones are collected weekly by agents, what would I do about those? Not answer the door, tell them im going bankrupt?0 -
Is the agent local and do you know he/she outside of being an agent to you?
Maybe when they come collect next payment explain the situation to them.
If they say you must pay be firm and say you are no longer in the position to keep up the weekly/monthly payments and as a result are filing for Bankruptcy.
I think they will accept what you tell them, refer it back to their base who will probably arrange for the default letter to be sent out to you. By this time... you would have hopefully booked your court app and be on your way. If they will not accept this... just don't answer the door and if you do - just tell them you can't pay and they know the reason why.
In fact, I remember when I was filing for BR. When on the phone to the court i asked how they thought I would get the money to pay for it... their response was most ppl get a provident loan and then include it into the BR!!! Even with the position I was in at the time I thought it was shocking. Needless to say I got the money together myself.
Hope that helps0 -
