Are you on interest only with your mortgage? If not, that's often a way of gaining valuable breathing space and usually only costs about £30 in fees. I would also start prioritising your outgoings. You need to make sure you pay for your mortgage and council tax, you could go PAYG on your gas and electricity rather than direct debit and then pretty much turn everything off.

As far as any loan or credit agreements or tv/phone contracts, I'd cancel the direct debits and tell the companies involved that you've lost your job and dont have any money, that you're happy to pay up whatever you owe but cant afford to continue with the contracts. They'll huff and puff (and so will the loan/credit people) but in reality there is nothing they can do because as you say, they can't get blood out of a stone.

The important thing here is to stay on top of your mortgage and council tax, nothing else really matters, especially your pride about not paying your debtors. Offer em £1 a month until you get back on your feet.

GE refused us interest only and said it was not available.
They have signed up to the homeowners mortgage support scheme but are refusing to help us as we are not in arrears ( even though being in arrears would mean we don't qualify for the scheme anyway) I have emailed and called my MP Liz Kendall to see if she can take our case and make GE speak to us properly.
You are of course right , everyone will get a pound like it or not as the CCCS have already said with council tax, gas/ electric, mortgage, water, petrol and insurance etc we are still short by £470 per month so god knows where the quid each is going to come from now I don't get JSA.
