Holiday Entitlement on Maternity Leave

I work for a small company and My boss is not very supportive and has tried several ways of not paying me for going to Antenatal appointments etc and even asked me to change my working days so this does not impact him.

I am due to go on maternity leave in October, My employer does not make provision for paying me maternity pay so all I am entitled to is SMP which is fine I work Tues, Wed and Thursday but My salary is enought that I will Qualify.

My annual holiday Allowance is 12 days which is 4 weeks but in my contract of employment and also in my letter of engagament my employer stated that because I do not get Bank holiday Mondays he will give me one week extra which I may take between xmas and new year, Obviousley I will now be on maternity leave and will not be paid for this time, I was wondering If I should be able to take this at an alternative time instead or if I will loose this time as it means I will loose around £300.

Any advise would be appreciated.

Thanks

Hi, You are entitled to accure holidays at your normal rate throughout your maternity leave.

If your holidays run from Jan to Dec and you're going on Maternity for 6 months ? from Oct, then you are entitled to either take the holidays before you go on maternity leave, or be paid for them at the end of Dec. You should not loose them.

There is a web page on the government website about holidays and maternity and what your employer should be adhereing to, do a google search. Hope this helps.
