well we got married on saturday & it was amazing! but now i need to pack my dress away safely, does anyone know of somewhere i can get a good quality acid free box that isnt going to cost a fortune?

For a decent quality acid-free one the price you found isn't bad at all.

My BMs mum works for a dry cleaners, so she is doing me a good deal on the dry cleaning cost for my dress and supplying the box at cost. They pay about £30 to buy the boxes they use in.
