I am also assuming that this could also be used as a bugging device without too much additional hardware.

Personally I would be VERY careful about where I gave that information out to!Years ago, As direct salesmen, we used to leave something like this behind while customers discussed the item that we were selling while we sat out in our cars and listened in. Besides FM transmitters are illegal at present and I expect MSE will delete this forum for promoting items which its readers should not be buying! You don't get medals for sitting in the trenches.0 -
I did hear the other week that they are planning on relaxing the rules on FM transmitters.0
-
AFAIK transmitter has such a small range that it would only be usable within your car. It's just a poor man's way to make an ipod work with a car radio.0

Yes, but "They" are also planning to reduce knife crime and improve the NHS, and I'll believe it once it happens. Until they do these transmitters are illegal and MSE should not be condoning such activity.I did hear the other week that they are planning on relaxing the rules on FM transmitters.
BTW I had a Griffin iTrip for my daughter's ipod and it's rubbish. We only used it a couple of times and now it's back in the box. Better thing to do is get one of those cassette adapters and use that, which is what I use in my car and it's great.
BBTW - if you want a proper FM bug this is not the best toy to get

Mine wasnt even useable in the car, I have a rubber duck type aerial, mind you it was a cheapo Ebay version. I only used it once and at best it was slightly below FM radio and worst just noise.0

I never stated they were legal only that they may be relaxing the law.
I cant use a tape adaptor as I only have a CD/radio player
MP3 gadget set for legalisation
Gadgets which transmit MP3 players' output so they can be heard on FM radios may become legal in the UK.
Using iTrips and other "low-power FM transmitters" is banned in Europe as their low-power transmissions can, in theory, interfere with legal stations.

Wanna sell it? PM me
I'll get me coat!0 -
I used to have one of these for use in the car and found it next to useless. The problem with simple switchable models like this is that the 88 MHz band where it transmits is covered by Radio 2 in my area, I ended up getting rid of it because my radio kept switching between the transmitter and radio 2 at 30 second intervals.biglugs wrote:Personally I would be VERY careful about where I gave that information out to!

Little bit of double standards i think0 -
My husband and I both have itrip or Belkin? FM transmitters each for our ipods. They are great for putting next to the stereo so that you can hear your ipod music through your stereo speakers without earplugs.
They need to be kept within close range of the stereo and you just tune the radio station into 88.7.
Comes out crystal clear.
Surprised at so many MSE's having negative coments.
