I posted a list of questions in this one xx- What’s your primary style? Posed and formal, relaxed, photojournalistic, creative, artistic, candid, traditional?
- Do you shoot in color or black and white? Or both? Do you shoot in a digital format that can create both color and b/w versions of the same picture?
- What kind of input can we have on the direction of the shots? Can we give you a shot list to work from?
- Are you the wedding photographer who will actually take our pictures? If not, can we meet the person who will be?
- Can we meet any assistants who will also be our taking pictures?
- How many times have you worked specifically as a wedding photographer? How many were similar to the size and formality of our wedding?
- How many other events will you also photograph that weekend?
- What kind of equipment will you bring with you? How intrusive will lighting, tripods, other equipment or assistants be?
- Do you develop your own film?
- When are we able to meet up to discuss this further? i would like to do this before putting my deposit down
- Do you have any albums i can go through apart from the ones online?
- Do you have any previous clients i can speak to ?

much more important than the specific questions you will ask will be the general feeling you get from them, ask youself, did you feel comfortable around them - for example if they are photographing you getting ready getting in to dress etc then you want to feel comfortable. Did you feel they understood what you want - regardless of what they typically do i would say you need to be telling them what it is you want rather than asking questions of them, and see how they respond. Also most important, make sure you see examples of work, preferably an album of a whole wedding rather than bits of various weddings.getting married: 02/10/10

to add to fly dragon fly's list:
Do you have a backup photographer?
Do you bring backup equipment?
Were the photos you are showing as examples taken by yourself?
Will you view the venues (church, reception, whatever) prior to the wedding?
What are your fees/how long will you be there?
Check whether you (the bride & groom) will get all the photos on DVD/CD and have the ability to print from these disks.
- I met photographers who put a watermark over the photos on the disks so that you cannot print from them and have to order any prints from the photographer.0 -
It's important that you see a whole wedding shot by the photographer...not just the best bits from a few weddings. Also look at the albums carefully for print quality and style.
I usually get asked...
1. Do you require a meal during the day?
2. What happens if you are ill etc and cannot attend?
3. Do you have back up equipment?
4. How much is the deposit and when is the final balance due?
5. Does my package include a CD we can print from?
6. Will you do a venue visit?
7. How quickly will I be able to view my images?
8. How do you design the album? Will I choose images or will you do it?
9.It all works out good in the end.If it's not good, it's not the end!0 -
All our photographer wanted was a cup cake!! I agree with others, you get a 'feel' about the right photographer for you. Ours are a husband and wife team who seemed to complement our personalities well!:rotfl:Ahahah got my signature removed for claiming MSE thought it was too boring :rotfl:0

You should also ask if they have insurance - at the very least they should have public liability insurance and for your peace of mind they should also have professional indemnity insurance.0

I found mine was able to chat away explaining themself and he answered my questions without me really asking much. If they are established/experienced then you may find they will know what you are going to ask and pre empt you0

I agree with this - met quite a few photographers before choosing ours and the one we decided to go with was the one we could chat with and felt we gelled with. Never once regreted it and a lot of our guests commented that they'd never had so little faff and so much fun having wedding photos taken0
