Past Due Credit Solutions

Hi,

I came home from work today to find a letter from this company had been sent to me. They had my full name and current address. A 'case number' was quoted at the top of the letter. It said "I would be grateful if you could contact me on 0844 559 8349 regarding an important matter" and gave office hours that I could call - no other information was provided to indicate what the letter was about.

I phoned the number (stupidly didnt withold my number) - had to wait for ever for someone to answer. We have lived at our current address for a couple of years - the guy at the end of the phone said he was trying to locate a former tenant that used to rent at my former address and was asking me when I moved out - despite refusing to tell me what it was about. I refused to tell him - only confirmed that I did not live at the address during the period he had been referring to.

It was a really odd letter and I feel quite shaken by it. I made sure when we moved out that we did not have any outstanding bills with our utility companies and I have never used a credit card. Has anyone else heard of this company/ had any dealings with them? I have an awful feeling that they are going to continue to pester me now.

I wouldn't worry about it until they do get back in touch (IF they do).

They first need to prove that you owe a debt so i if you know you are okay, then let them waste their time.
After falling off the gambling wagon (twice): £33,600 (24,000+ 9,600) - Original CC Debt: £7,885.91

    Dad Gift 6k ¦ Savings & Inv Tst: £2,500
    Loan 10k: £0 ¦ Dad 5.5k: £2,270 ¦ LTSB: £0 ¦ RBS: £0 ¦ Virgin £0 ¦ Egg £0

    Total Owed: £2,270 (+6k) 11/08/2011

George is right, but if it helps you feel better you can check your own credit files yourself. This'll probably be free, but if not the worst case scenario is that you end up shelling out a grand total of just under £11 to get copies of all three.

(Go for the check your file for free links, but if you find they need a credit card you don't have then double back and head for the "£2 statutory reports". Doesn't matter if you haven't got a cheque book that £11 I just mentioned is a worst case scenario and includes having to pay for postal orders and signed for 1st class mail for each.

Anything not on those files is not worth worrying about.
I refuse to be afraid of the big bad wolf, spiders, or debt collection agencies; one of them's not real and the other two are powerless without my fear.
(Ok, one of them is powerless, spiders can be nasty.)

As of the last count I have cleared
    [STRIKE]23.16%[/STRIKE] 22.49% of my debt. :(
