Someone else's bank details on my payslip?

Hi all,
Quick question, I have been looking through my pay slip and noticed that someone elses bank details are on it. I checked with my HR department who confirmed it was "my bank details" and when I said *I dont bank with (bank name)* they confirmed the money was going to my account and I should ignore the other persons details.
Thats fine, I'm an honest person & wont do anything with them but what if I wasnt? Through no fault of mine or the person whose bank details they actually are I've ended up with their details.
What should I do? Ignore the details like HR said, or try and locate the person (maybe go to the bank itself and tell them the problem?)
and make them aware?
I'm trying to look at it if was my details- I would hate it to be my details on someone else payslip!
Thanks,

Your details could well be on their payslip (or someone else's). When I've had issues with payslips (mine was first printed in a public printer instead of the confidential one, then posted to the wrong address...) I would take it further, write an email saying I was concerned, or speak to someone more senior in HR, whatever you think would work best in that company.
Preparing payslips is a delicate job, and if someone is messing it up it needs to be sorted out.0 -
Its not as though anything can be done with the bank details but thats ot the point thought is it0

To be honest, these days scammers are getting pretty damn good as much as I hate to say it...I imagine soon enough there will be things that can be done with bank details.0

I think it would be a data protection issue as they're giving you details of someone else's bank account Presumably your bank account details are also on someone else's payslip! HR/payroll are being a bit shoddy here. I'd make a complaint and say they need to rectify it as if they can't get the basic information correct how can you be confident they are calculating your pay correctly? This is a serious issue as if they foul up NI numbers then there is a bigger potential for identity fraud and further problems with benefits and all sorts.0
