EDF Energy

Hi all,
I'm feeling really down. I've been trying hard over the last couple of weeks to start dealing with my debts rather than keep burying my head......

During the last few years I've battled depression and I hold my hand up and say I completely screwed up - ignored letters, knocks at the door, phone calls etc.

...anyways.
I owe £1052 to EDF energy :o

I'm still trying to get to grips with my SOA and snowballing but with my current figures I can only afford £50 per month to pay back this debt.

I've had a letter back from EDF saying thank you, this is acceptable and the payments will start from September. Then today I got home and had a letter from their Exeter (debt collection) centre saying £50 isn't acceptable and if I don't increase the payments (they don't say what to) or pay back the debt within 7 days they will apply for a warrant to turn off my gas supply :(

I don't know what to do :(

  • Kitty - please ring them! Do it tomorrow morning before you do anything else.

Have you got your SOA handy? Speak to them with this information to hand and explain exactly what your outgoings are. Tell them why you have offered the £50 per month payment and why this is all you can afford. Also tell them that you've already been told that this amount is acceptable and have a letter to that effect.

If they apply for a warrant (which sounds like a worst-case scenario threat) you'll have the right to appeal it.

I'm sure it won't go this far - but please make that call tomorrow to prevent any more stress. You don't need that if you've got depression.

Let us know how you get on.

Good luck and a big hug x
 What if the hokey cokey is what it's all about?
