Has anyone ever heard of this company! My husband has recieved a letter from them saying that he owes Barclays £241, but if he pays it within 14 days they will reduce the amount to £167. He hasnt held a Barclays bank account since he was 18 years old, hes always banked with Lloyds, until we go married last year and I joined him onto my bank account last June. We have no debt on the account, so I dont know where this has come from! If he did have debt from when he was younger, would they be chasing him now for it???? Hes 32years old now! It seems a bit strange. Please can anyone shed any light on this! I want it sorted a soon as possible and I hope it doesnt affect his credit score!!

If you spend the best part of 10 seconds to have a look , you will find THOUSANDS of posts regarding this company
Suffice to say , they like to buy statue barred debts and see what they can get out of the poor sods they attack0 -
The sort of this is typically a small DD going out of an unused bank account, taking it overdrawn and then fees bumping it up to silly money
If he has a very old debt and it is more than 6 yewars since he last paid anything towards it, the debt is statute barred and he does not have to pay. They can ask but cannot do anything if he does not pay. They probaly bought it for £5 so £167 would be a tidy profit. If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
So if we dont pay it, will it not affect his credit score? I dont know why they have suddenly decided to contact him now!!0

Correct. They are legally allowed to aks for the debt to be paid but once OH tells them he is not paying, they have to stop any recovery action.kristatocker wrote: »I dont know why they have suddenly decided to contact him now!!
AK specialise in buying unenforceable debt and trying to frighten people who do not know the law into paying up.If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
Ok Ill write them a letter to say that he doesnt know of any debt to their company and hopefully they will go away! I very much doubt that though0

HELP! I've had numerous letters from this company too, for a debt that was paid in full, but it was 8 years ago and I no longer have the reciepts for the payments made. They have been threatening me with court action etc. I must say, I've just put my head in the sand and hoped it would go away, but now I think I should do something. What letter should I send? Would like to add, the letter I've had most recently has been from a solicitor on behalf of AK>
Thanks so much!0
