Wedding veils

Has anyone any suggestions for wedding veil patterns.
I went with my daughter to start looking at wedding dresses, to get some idea of styles and prices for her wedding next year.
I nearly fainted when I saw the prices of the veils, £99 or more for a length of tulle, some silk ribbon and a plastic comb.
I have several months to go so intend to make one for her.
Ijust need an idea of the basic shape to cut.
I intend to practice on some cheaper fabric to get the basic shape.

I'd imagine that'd depend on what kind of veil she wants. a quick google returned plenty results.

Why not have a look at ebay and see if you can get a veil cheaper?

I got a veil from ebay, cathedral length with diamantes on it. Its very fine, almost cobweb like. Cost £40. Much better quality than anything i saw in the shops, they were all stiff and starchy and the net seems to be quite large holed, if you know what i mean.

Just hope she's not like my daughter and falls in love with such a 'quirky' veil it just cant be found anywhere else!

I found this before you can purchase a pattern - veils are at the bottom of the page, you may be able to find free patterns somewhere too

You could also look here: http://www.ukweddingveils.co.uk where veils are much cheaper than the high street and you can build your own. There's a section about different lengths, tiers, edging etc.

I bought mine on Ebay, it had been worn once before and I paid less than half the RRP for it. I'd definitely recommend doing this. :)
  • Just a thought - may be easier to go along the ebay tactic than making it? But making it would be a lovely thing for her to keep :)

I found mine on ebay for £17.50 (still have to order it to actually find out if the quality is ok!) Finger tip length with white diamante things on it.

I'm looking at that site, how do you know what length you want the veil? It goes by inches :-s

Go veil shopping and try some on first to get length that suits you and style of dress

There is a veil buying guide which has a section on veil lengths on there somewhere... *looks*

This shows you the different lengths & where they fall to. Hope that helps :)
