Can anyone offer any advice please??

Hi!!
I've been on a dmp wit the cccs since december, everythings going ok though I think I may have been a bit tight with my budget, we've been managing but only just! I know I could have asked for a review but really didn't want to upset my creditors when things have finally gone quiet! The thing is now I have been offered more hours at work:jnaturally I do want to increase my payments, but my car is about to die a death!! I spent hundreds on it last year and really don't think it will get through the next test without it costing more than its worth again. my queston is would I be able to put the extra money aside for the first few months of my new wage in order to save up to replace the car? i don't want anything flash or new, just reliable. Without a car I cannot get to work, I work 20 miles away and work shifts so public transport is impossible. does anyone think the cccs would allow this??

thank you :)

There have been a number of people here whose cars have packed up/cost a packet to repair and CCCS have suspended their monthly payments whilst they sorted out. They may want an idea of how much you spent on repairs last year, whether the car bites the dust at the next test and how much you plan to spend on a new car.

By the way, even BRs who need a car are allowed £1-2k to buy a car if their old one is taken.
If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing

Do you have to tell them you have extra hours in work? If not, say nothing and save for the car, and then increase the payments. After all if you need transport for work its hardly a luxury, if you cannot work you cannot pay anything at all!!;)

I have thought about doing that but I'd be terrified they'd find out that I hadn't informed them and stop my DMP!,I've never been any good at hiding things lol!!! you're right though, they wont get anything if I can't get to work!! RAS, i suppose i'll be in a better position than some as I wont have to suspend any payments just save the extra. It cost me £500 in repairs last year and with the dodgy noise its making now I suspect its gonna cost again this time!! I think I might phone the cccs and test the water before anything is definate,
thanks for a quick reply xx
