what is the norm for gift of money for wedding present.

    I assume you mean the amount. I would say £50 per person invited to the wedding ie. £100 per couple. My thinking behind this is that it would likely cover the cost of your meal. I can honestly say tho that most couples appreciate any thing. I am getting married soon and we have started getting gifts already and every single one is much appreciated.

    Hmmmm... I'm interested in this too!
    My friend is getting married soon and *sighs* "wants the money".
    Trouble is there are five of is in our household goig. Myself , OH and 3 grown up children.
    I was thiking £200 from the family would be fine?

    I agree with mypie, we always give £100 per couple. If it was a really close friend/immediate family it would be more though.

    It works out at less than £50 a head , I'm sure it's costing much more than that for us to be catered for. I admit that it feels rather like buying a ticket each! I would rather give a gift but thats not what she wants.
    She's a good friend though , we go way back to early school days.

    how about buying a present and putting a little money in the card. Another option is vouchers for their fav restaurant instead of money.
