when should we insure?

Options
so ive booked the venue, paid a deposit and got my shoes:D but now have to wait over two years to do the deed and another year or so before i make anymore major purchases, should we insure now? because if something did go wrong with the venue i might lose the deposit or is it too early?

We have a policy with E&L insurance, I just looked on their FAQ....

It is recommended that you take out Wedding Insurance as soon as you make any bookings or pay any deposits towards your wedding. Insurance can be taken out up to 2 years prior to the wedding or as little as 21 days before the big day.

    Hope this helps x

We did it as soon as we paid the deposit.
Figured we might as well do it, even though we still haven't had any major spends.
That way, regarding the health side, if anyone develops a condition between now & the wedding, we'll be covered if it means the wedding has to be postponed.

2 years is about right for taking out insurance.

    - https://www.ecclesiastical.co.uk are probably one of the best wedding insurers.
  • The couple of policies that I've looked into have stated that we can insure our wedding from 2 years prior to the date so we are going to do ours in October when the wedding is exactly 2 years away.

We are with Debenhams, think it says 2 years in their policy too but dont quote me. Did it through them because their wording is much the same as the rest and cover was enough for us, did it through Quidco and got money back too!! :T

If you're going to take out wedding insurance, you should really do so once you've started paying out any deposits. As others have said, with most wedding insurance companies, you can take it out any time up to two years before the big day.
