Custom engagement rings in Glasgow?

Not sure if this is the right board, but here goes!

I'm looking to commission a custom engagement ring for my girlfriend (I already have the stone - a marquise cut sapphire).

Can anyone recommend a jewellers that isn't extortionate and will work with me to design a ring in Glasgow/Edinburgh/central belt?

My first quote was £900 - which seems extortionate for what is essentially an 18ct white gold band with a simple setting!

Winski's jewellers in Dunfermline! Highly recommended...
If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family anatidae on our hands

If you are happy to travel then I'd recommend a couple -

    Graham Stewart in Dunblane and

    Ian Gallacher in Stirling and

    Colleys in Falkirk

none of them are big flashy shops but I've had jewellery from all 3 over the years and would happily go back to any of them.

    Good luck (and congratulations!)

    my dd used this place
    http://www.theringmaker.co.uk/
she told them her budget and negotiated price/design
they incorporated some old pieces she had too (for sentimental reasons)

Do you remember the name of the designer/shop? I won't be in the West end for a while and would like to check online if she has a site?

I found her online, but she only works in sterling silver. A shame, as her stuff is lovely :)
