I'd like to be debt free after flat purchase! Pls Help!

Hi all,

I'm not talking about my mortgage, rather the amount I have outstanding on a credit card. I only got the mortgage in November so my credit score seems to be a little low (not helped by new address and already the Post Office have changed my postcode).

I can afford to pay at least the minimum monthly payment and often pay back more but I can never seem to get rid of it. I've stopped using the card now and would rather structure the payment on to a loan which is the same amount each month over 18months or two years.

Basically, I moved in to a bare flat and had to furnish it. The balace is roughly £5k.

So, before I venture off to Ocean Finance.....:(.....can anyone support a recommendation for a lender who may be able to help or another method of clearing my debt?

    Hi Lucero,

Have you tried applying for any of the interest free credit cards that are currently available. There are some incredible deals with up to 15 months interest free. Alternatively, depending on the interest rate of your card, there are some good loan rates available.

I hope you get sorted, but would not recommend Ocean Finance due to the loan being secured on your property
If you've nothing decent to say, perhaps you shouldn't say anything.

    hi, thanks.

For some reason though, I seem to have a low credit score. I can't get on to Experian to find out why, yet, answer the self checker questions truthfully on here, it says I should be able to get a loan fairly easily.

It links to a thing on MoneySupermarket (Smart Search or something) but I couldn't find it and I don't just want to start off an application.

    Hi

What APR are you paying on your card?
How much can you afford to pay back each month?
Is this your only debt (aside from the mortgage)? no overdraft or other debts?
Do you have any other credit accounts open?
What is the limit on the card?
Are you on the electoral roll?
