Tesco Policies - Confused

This is my first post so hopefully I'm posting in the correct place.

I am really confused about the following tesco policies.

Refund & replace policy and Double the difference policy

I have looked on their website and can't seem to find any details on them, only policies for buying online.

Our tesco is really rude and if something is a different price they will only give you the difference back or tell you they can offer a full refund if you give them the item back. I don't know their policy and would love to get the correct information so that in the future I know what I'm talking about. (and can argue my case) :D

refund and replace is no longer tesco policy for overcharging, the refund policy should be displayed at the customer service desk
  • Thanks I'll have a wee look the next time I am down. :D

it should be Double the Difference as that replaced Refund & Replace but quite often the customer service staff don't give it unless you ask.

Three options for you to consider:

    - ring the tel no on your receipt, yes it is the store no - but with most stores you'll go via a call centre - who will log the details of your query/complaint, you may get put through to the duty manager, but either way it will be monitored.

    - ring the freephone Customer Services no, they should be able to provide you with the policy info.

    - go to tescocomments.com to give feedback on individual stores, though don't know if you'll get a response back.

Hya R&R actually stood for Refund And Retain, which meant if you were overcharged by so much as a penny you kept the item and was given your money back, this was taken away from their policy over 2 years ago. This was replaced by DTD which stands for Double The Difference, which means if for example you buy something marked up on the shelf (SEL) or packet as £2 but they charge you £4, you have been overcharged by £2 and so you should get £2 x 2= £4 back and you still keep the item.
