silver wedding rings?

i know most people have gold or white gold but could you have silver?

i was looking on dolly coutures fb page and came across a bride who had her rings made by a lady on etsy but they all seem to be in silver or 14k gold, now i reallly like one of the rings on her etsy page and am really thinking about it but does silver go horrible over time or? x

Silver goes really thin and wears away in time, if worn every day, unless it was a very thick ring but even then I think it wouldn't last for 60 years.

A cynic like me would say that a silver ring will probably last the actual time that people stay married, but a romantic might like the ring to last forever...
  • Hi, I have a silver wedding ring - my boyfriend and I made them for each other at a jewellery making workshop at a festival. I love it to bits and it means even more to me as we made them.

I also have another silver ring that I've worn for about 15 years or so and it hasn't gone horrible or worn away.

that is soooo cute! i dont often wear jewellery i have a gold ring my grandad got me and my engagement ring neither i wear because i dont feel they are me, i use to be a silver kid when i was younger so i donno maybe thats why i'm drawn to it. if it only lasted 60 years i would be happy that would lead me to my 80's and by then i would have renewed my vows anyway :)

this doesn't mean i've made up my mind though i just love the rawness look of this and the fact she can make a band to match it is a lovely idea as i'm not a diamond gal http://www.etsy.com/listing/50687838/star-light-star-bright-engagement-ring

We are getting married on a tight budget and I have said that I don't want an engagement ring as I would rather the money put towards the actual wedding or a really nice wedding ring, so I just wear a ring that I already had (you want to have seem some peoples faces when they were told we were getting married and then saw the size of the 'rock'!). I am swaying towards silver wedding rings as OH loves silver rings, and I dont want to spend a fortune on them!
Friends of ours didn't do engagement rings and the bride is now onto her third 'wedding' ring, all of which have been silver, and none of them look like the standard wedding band. She changes her mind and moves with the times.

Everyone to their own and it is down to what you personally like, or don't like!

Stainless steel is very popular now in jewellery - also pewter is lovely too. If you want a silver ring - go for it!

I'm not haveing a silver ring, but I don't see why you shouldn't. I have lots of silver jewelery and none of it has gone bad! My grandma gave me a lovely silver ring when i was younger that used to be hers, I wore it lots, and i'm sure she did too, and its still looks good!

Silver looks pretty, I have trouble spotting the difference between silver, white gold and platinum!
Now a married lady and loving it! Now..to clear that pesky mortgage!

ooh that's a lovely ring! And if you like it you should go for it and not worry about it being silver rather than gold or whatever. You need to find something you're happy to wear.

Was chatting to OH earlier.... I think we are going to go down the line of silver rings as silver is what I wear constantly and he just loves the silver rings that he had when he was younger but can't actually get on his fingers now!!!
