I'm looking at txt-chat, but I don't fancy my chances being a bloke. The missus isn't too keen I don't think even though I'd have no issues with her doing it.

We've tried getting some business for her as she's a medical secretary and could do admin work from home easily. But we've never had any interest at all. We signed up to virtual secretary websites and heard nothing from them - pretty disappointing.

We both did Kleeneze a few years back, and I did Herbalife before that. Not for us unfortunately.

I worked a few days in a Little Chef, the manager didn't like the fact I was overqualified (maybe I came over big headed but I don't think so!), they said they'd let me know when I was needed in for cover, some time over the next week, and never heard from them - I should have phoned them but I hated the few days I was there!! I don't think I'm cut out for customer facing jobs full stop TBH.

As I've said I've got a few bits to sell, so I'll do that one day. Any other ideas?

    Hi

Grocery spend is one where you can definately make savings. We are a couple spending £180-£200 per month on groceries and that INCLUDES pet food and alcohol and we eat really well (don't know how much of your budget it allocated to cigs?).

Check insurances at renewal, and cut the entertainment and takeaways budget - our budget includes for one meal out and one takeaway per month and totals about £35.

    Good luck.

Buildings and contents insurance reduced from £33 to about £14 a month from August. :D

I'm doing a meal planner now as well.

    B&C ins now £14 instead of £32.
Life insurance now down to £11.88 and £13.52, giving £25.40 instead of £52.24.
Mobile phones only down £5 though. :( Not good enough.

Also: Zoe's given up smoking, so that will be £40 a month - although I've said she can spend that on CDs and DVDs and things we don't normally buy, but I've added it in the OP anyway.
And we're doing the meal planner so takeaways should all be planned, so that's down as well.

Just reading your helpful hints, some of them are pretty good. Just got to persuade the missus.

Just to say you are doing well there, it seems you are seeing small changes you can make- and it will all add up. Re the smoking £40, why don't you spend half of what you save on CD/DVD (or sorry let the missus spend half ;)), that way you can see the benefits of cutting in more than one way- a wee treat (£20 is 2 CD's/DVD's which is a VERY nice amount per month!) and also a small amount more towards debts ?
    All the best.
