Im currently working 1 day a week and i cant get any more hours, is it possible to also be self-employed to earn some extra money as long as i declare my tax??

You also need to make sure it is allowed under your contract of employment.0

I used to work part time and was a partner in a succesful motor trading business, I didn't earn enough to pay tax and NI in my P/T job and I think you can be exempt from NI contributions for at least the first year of self employment (I may not be up to date on this as it was a few years ago). But remember you will need to keep books up to date of all your incoming and outgoings regarding your business.

The exemption from paying self employed NICs relates to having (or anticipating) a low income from self employment. Another thing to ask the tax office.Signature removed for peace of mind0
