Companies that purchase rags?

Hi,

I'm just having my annual spring-cleaning and am hoping to make a few pennies before (eventually) I end up going to the recycle centre down the road.

Are there any companies that purchase rags? The quality of the clothing is good, but fashion has moved on so much that nobody would be interested in buying them.

Are there any companies that purchase old cables? I have loads from old computers, old chargers that I have no clue what to do with - and want to get rid of them responsibly.

Thanks...

Rags are great for wiping off oil and grease so they are used by some workshops...there are companies that sell rags but I'd imagine they would only buy large quantities.

In the cycle shop I worked in we purchased sacks of rags at £10 a time from the local charity shop, maybe you could try your local bike shop?

the answer is yes.... the price will depend on what area you are, they buy it by the kg. best thing to do is look under recycling in your yellow pages, and phone around, same with the computer cables i should imagine it would be the scrap metal merchants who might pay for those...

even though your clothes might be dated in style, as long as they are in good clean condition, and are still fit for purpose, then they should buy them.... not all rag merchants buy from the general public though

The following is for info and not a recommendation as I have not used them.

I had pushed through my door a leaflet from "Rag'n'Phone man", they do collections of clothes and claim to pay 40p per kilo. Phone no. 01609 780 555, website https://www.ragandphone.com
