Please don't laugh but has anyone been able to get one as a long-time customer finding themselves more overdrawn than usual and needing more time to catch up without going down the loan route.

Im not aware of anyone having it reduced unless your in serious trouble, at which point is usually frozen rather than actually stopped. Which means as you come out of it they still make you pay the interest you would have been charged.
Have you been able to get a 0% MBNA/Virgin card and transfer the balance or tried A&L for their 0% overdraft?Although no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.
There are two ways of constructing a software design: One way is to make it so simple that there are obviously no deficiencies, and the other way is to make it so complicated that there are no obvious deficiencies0 -
thanks darkconvict for the reply.
My current credit card company is offering 0% balance transfers but as I already had one of their cards I was't allowed to transfer my balance. When I pointed out the fact they were in effect, penalising me for being loyal to them all these years, they offered and have reduced my credit card interest by half, hence my asking if banks have been known to do that.
I've applied thrice for a balance transfer card and each time was rejected which prompted me to check my credit report which uncovered other issues which have scuppered that option for now.0
