Anyone Going Through REMO?

Hi all

My situation is fairly sensitive and I'd rather not post the ins and outs of it on here but I wondered if there was anyone in the process of or who had been successful in claiming support through REMO?

If there is anyone who can offer some advice and wouldn't mind me emailing or private messaging them it would be much appreciated.

Thank you

Laura

  • Hi Laura,
I am going through REMO, and I don't mind you PM'ing me. I probably won't be much help but will answer any questions that I can.

Hi Newmum2be.....I've also dealt with REMO from here, a successful order made which is now enforceable and being enforced in Canada. Have registered it with the enforcement agency in Canada, and success - first payment made this month, and after them taking some enforcement action, he's come up with a plan to pay off his horrendous arrears - which is in hte mail to me :) If you think I can be of any help, pm me.
  • Great news Anxiousmum!! I'll bet he's not a happy camper.

No, he's not :( His partner even more so. My son's have cut contact with her on facebook, as they received some pretty derogatory communications from her, and unfortunately, the boys have now stated they will only see their dad if he comes here to the UK to visit, or can stay somewhere other than their dad's home, as they do not wish to be in a home where his partner is resident. Sad, as they now have a baby sister there that they have never met, and now will be a long time before they will I guess. The boys, knowing that I will be the one to catch the flack from grandparents etc. re not visiting this summer, have forwarded the communications onto grandparents, explaining their decision and reasons for not going out this year. It's so nice when they grow up and can make their own decisions!

I'm also in the process of claiming via REMO. Ex partner now lives in Florida and has never paid a cent towards the maintenance of our two children since the day we separated 5 years ago. He has no dependants there and from what I can gather a reasonably paid job. He can easily afford to have our sons flown over to see him despite pleading poverty in order to not send money for their day to day needs. I've recently had a letter from the official solicitor saying that the documentation has been forwarded to the relevant court in the U.S.A.

Contrary to some peoples stories that I've heard, the process for me has proven to be fairly straight-forward, and dare I say it, a little quicker too than I'd expected it to be (so far!). The JP who signed my papers at the magistrates court did say that the authorities in the US weren't the speediest or the most compliant, and often found an excuse to bat the case away.

Good luck to all PWCs undergoing this process at the moment and in the future....may your children get what they deserve!
  • I am currently considering REMO after splitting with my ex over 5 yrs ago he was paying via CSA thru attachment of earnings, however because he lives in the ROI he took it to a tribuneral to get the deductions stopped which they did, during the time of it going to tribuneral we did get about 1.5k as the company he worked for also failed to make regular payments despite the AOE, during the run up to the hearing he insisted he would still make payments to our daughter as there were also another two children he denies are his involved in the case, however since the tribuneral he as not made any payments to myself despite me giving him my bank details (and previously his daughters), he does call once a week, he does come over occasionally to see our daughter but he also tries to brainwash her when she is with him, at present my current partner wants me to stop the NRP from seeing our daughter and i don't really know the best route to take?!

I'm also going through the process. Unfortunately I have to resubmit because my consent order was made in the county court and not the magistrates. The court sent me a couple of pages badly copied from a procedural guide with relevant sections highlighted and I've got to provide a sworn statement and certified copies of certain docs. What's really annoying is its almost 3 months since I first wrote to the magistrates.

I shredded my divorce file 3 years ago so don't have some of the info needed (confirmation that he received a copy of the consent order being one thing) so I've got an appt with my solicitor in half term, £300 ph I could do without having to find but hopefully it will be worth it.
