I went and got a packet of Lentils to make Gingham Ribbon's Lentil and mushroom pate but I've just realised that I got green instead or red! Is that going to be a problem? Can I still use them for something?
Thanks

Thanks

the green ones are nice in bolognaise (and the lasagne) but you could make a pate from them. They are bigger, still have their skins and aren't split in half like the red ones. This means they take a bit longer to cook and keep their shape better so don't mush up like the red ones.
But if you fancy making pate out of them, give it a go! They'll take maybe about 40 minutes to cook as you'll need them to get quite mushy and I'd imagine you'd need to blend them after too.
Or the Delia lentil and egg curry on the menu list is delicious with green lentils.May all your dots fall silently to the ground.0 -
I tend to use red or green lentils for most recipes, depending on what is in the cupboard. Red lentils tend to go to more of a mush than green (if you cook then for too long) but I am sure green would be fine!0

Super! I'm glad to hear all is not lost - I was really excited about cooking up something new! (yea, I'm not a good cook, but I am learning!).
Thank you for your quick responses. I'm off to give it a go. (Will try Delia's one too- thanks GR!)July Win: Nokia 58000
