Handymen in Aberdeen?

That title doesn't look very good but you know what I mean! :D

Does anyone know of a list of reputable tradesmen in Aberdeen I can access - folk who would do small jobs around the house - not large companies who charge an arm and a leg to look at something!

Aberdeen City Council have a list for folk on income benefit I think and also over 60s but I don't qualify for that yet :) - however at 51 and single I'm a bit wary of just picking a name out of Yellow Pages/Thomson Directory/off a website/the paper! Would rather get recommendations if poss.

I'm talking about plumbers; electricians; joiners etc. and an example of a job would be fitting a ceiling fan to my daughter's bedroom ceiling (so far my ex has turned the air blue and left us without main lights upstairs in an effort to do this!!).

I'm in Danestone if it helps.
Marg :)
