this if for interest only - would like to know how this might be handled by the CSA.
Ex and I have three children. Ex self-employed so not paying any child maintenance - arrears are stacking up slowly.
Lets say in 5 years time, one of our children decides that they want to live with dad on a full time basis with few or no overnight stays with me. I transfer Child Benefit and Tax Credit for that child to the ex. He goes straight to the CSA for 15% of my income. I am employed by a local authority so payment will be made whether I like it or not.
Would I have to pay that 15% or would it be off-set in some way against the 20% he would still be having to pay me (assuming my 15% is lower than his 20%)? If my 15% were more than his 20%, would the CSA effectively take my contribution away from the arrears first (in other words, I pay nothing until the arrears run down) or would I be stuck pursuing him for his arrears into the future whilst he still got his fair share for the one child from day one?
As I say, just interested in how these issues are dealt with.

apparently, one of the only good things that has come out of the recent shake up, is that arrears can now be offset against current assessments.NEVER ARGUE WITH AN IDIOT. THEY'LL DRAG YOU DOWN TO THEIR LEVEL AND BEAT YOU WITH EXPERIENCE.

i think it has, but only if you kick and scream loudly enough as most of the drones have no idea about the rules they had, let alone new ones!
the case i know of, it took MP intervention for the csa to get a shift on with it (nothing new there then!

Please read the other posts on here as another PWC has had the same thing happen to them and the NRP just lied and child was not living with them at all.
Once Child benefit had been transferred to NRP then CSA sent out forms ( what a mess)0 -
