Hi,
Have already posed the question in the 'Hey...Chickens!' thread, but it will in all likelihood be missed in such a busy thread so I hope I'm ok posting it separately here (and apologies if not, I'm not usually in the OS threads unless I'm looking for cleaning advice!
)
I'd like to get a few hens, pref. rescue some battery ones but the BHWF are based way down south (Central Belt) and I'm sure there must be some nearer than an 8-hour round trip!
Can anybody help, I'd really appreciate it - thank you
I'm in the Inverness area but am willing to travel a reasonable distance.

Hi Moomin:D
you have had some great ideas so far. I think you would get more responses in either Local moneysaving scotland or I wanna . Let me know which you prefer and I can move this once it has more resposes
Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere(please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. If you have any questions about this policy please email abuse@moneysavingexpert.com.

That's fine, could you move me to the 'I wanna...' please - cheers!0 -
Okay - now or leave it here a few hours? Either is fine with me

Thank you for that - I was hoping I could just go and collect them (I only want 4!!), the coop and run isn't even built yet, I was just trying to get some idea of where to go but everything seems to be going on either East (Aberdeenshire), West or South - I can't really believe there are no chooks around here!
I think I will keep asking around locally over the next few weeks (whilst run is being built) and see if I can source some fairly near me. If not, I may well get back to you for Mr MacDonald's number!!
Thanks again
ETA: I've found him, yet more Googling ('Skye chickens') came up with a forum for Highland poultry adoption and he is on the list of suppliers! I am off to register now! Maybe there will be some rescues available soon0 -

Hi moominyak, Haribojunkie is up your way and keeps chooks, she doesn't post so much anymore, but it might be worth pming her in case she is still lurking or pink winged, who is her sister, they might be able to point you in the right direction?It's what is inside your head that matters in life - not what's outside your windowEvery worthwhile accomplishment, big or little, has its stages of drudgery and triumph; a beginning, a struggle and a victory. - Ghandi0

There is this place but it's still 2 hours away from the OP. May be worth phoning them as I know they get their eggs from a breeder further north.
