Removing old paid CCJ?

Hi
I've just joined his forum so I'm a little green regarding anything related to CCJs etc so apologies in advance. Think my situation is a little complicated, I'll try not to make it too long winded but I'm really suffering financially and could really do with some advise...
To me my situation sounds like the same senario as rick@findthatfuchsia has found himself in. I was under impression that a CCJ can only be applied if the company can prove you have defulted on an agreed payment plan??? However there was no payment plan in place???
The background is;
In 2002 I was living in Chester, however as this was a univeristy address I was never registered at this address on electoral role. Therefore the store card I took out, 2 months before moving into this address, was applied for at my home address in Stoke on Trent. When I went to uni the billing for this card was changed to my chester address. In about 2003 a some of money was paid on the account which left me the impression the account was paid off and no further correspondence was received before I moved out the house in Chester. In 2006, after I had been back at my home address in Stoke on Trent for about 2 years, I received a letter from Northampton County Court informing me of a CCJ that had been given to me... This was the only correspondence to my home address I had recieved from either the court or the store card company. The CCJ was paid off within a couple of days once I was made aware of it but by then it was obviously too late!!!!
My question is, do I have grounds to have this cancelled off my record??? as because of this CCJ I cannot even get a proper bank account never mind a car loan or mortguage.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!
Thank you in advance
Nick

Hi Nick,
If the CCJ was paid in full within 30 days of it been granted it should be removed from the credit file, to be honest i do not think it should be placed at all. You should apply to the court for its removal or at least a certification that it has been satisfied.
As it is now paid, i do not believe it can be set aside, basically starts the CCJ process again as you didn't receive the paperwork, but since you now know about it and have paid it I do not believe this is a viable option.Although no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.
There are two ways of constructing a software design: One way is to make it so simple that there are obviously no deficiencies, and the other way is to make it so complicated that there are no obvious deficiencies0
