Next question, do jobs on the JCP site indicate how you're supposed to apply? eg send CV / standard application form or ask for employer's pack and application form?

Either it will say how to apply (company website; CV by post/email; phone employer for pack; complete JCP application and return via the JCP office) or it will give an 0845 number for another JCP department [don't even get me started on that  ] that you phone and they then tell you how to apply.

Thank you people. I may send a PM to newbies with the reference used, if I may, but it will depend whether or not I have time on Monday. I only bring my work home with me mentally, ISYWIM ...

And please don't worry about the rants: I appreciate that jobhunting is no fun, and dealing with JCP is even worse! Even from an employer's POV, they were no fun ... plus when we did use them our vacancies were left on view for months after the closing date, which is a complete waste of EVERYONE'S time!

Have you tried just sticking the reference number into google? It's simple, but often finds things.

OK, typing the reference into google brings up several thousand hits. Typing the reference into the jobseekers site brings up zilch.

    I shall PM NewbiesW ...

The applicant has returned 'our' form, btw, so obviously trying rather than just ticking boxes!
